Through the use of third-party applications people have been streaming content to their Tivo’s so they could watch the content on their TV’s. Now Tivo has the ability to play any video podcast on the internet without the need of running a single thing on another machine. Although this feature has been out for some time there isn’t much talk on it around the Internet. So I’m going to show you how to use it and what I like and dislike about video podcasts on the Tivo.

Watching and Subscribing to Built-In Podcasts
Tivo has a lot of popular video podcasts already built into the system for you to access. Just follow these steps:

Custom Podcasts via RSS Feeds
If you looked through Tivo’s built-in podcasts you saw a pretty extensive list, which is always being updated. But if you didn’t see the podcast you want you can still watch it on your Tivo. With RSS Feeds you have the ability of adding any podcast to watch and download episodes.

Podcasts On Tivo: Pros

Everything is done entirely on the Tivo. In the past most people had one program to subscribe to podcasts and then another to stream the videos to the Tivo. No computer is needed at all with this.

Tivo’s library of built-in podcasts is fairly large. For example, every Revision3 show is available.

With the custom RSS feeds feature you can watch virtually any podcast that exists on the Tivo.

Podcast integration in the Now Playing List makes accessing your content a breeze.

Did I mention that high quality podcasts look beautiful on my TV played by Tivo?

Podcasts On Tivo: Cons

Entering RSS feed URL’s in the Tivo interface can be tedious. Luckily you only have to enter it once and then it’s saved for future use.

The big one is that you can’t get a season pass for custom RSS feed podcasts.

This feature is only for Tivo Series 3 and HD versions.

That’s how you can watch video podcasts on your Tivo. Personally, I started using this feature recently and I’m really excited about it. I’m already using Tivo anyways, why not leverage it for podcasts and free up some computer resources at the same time. I’ll be getting a lot of use out of this feature for a long time, or until I get that Boxee Box I’m dying to get my hands on.

SPECIAL OFFER: Order online with coupon code ‘EBFP’ to get a free large pizza with the purchase of any large pizza of equal or greater value.

Two days after Christmas Domino’s officially began selling pizzas made with their newly revamped recipe. The marketing campaign boasts a better sauce, cheese and crust. Although you might be interested in how it stacks up against the old recipe, you probably haven’t jumped at the opportunity. Luckily for you, I have a taste for bad food, a lightning fast metabolism, and I’m a workout warrior who can burn anything off. I put down two of these large pies so you wouldn’t have to and I’m ready to share my findings.

The Recipe

The box explains the new recipe.

The new pizza box itself gives you an idea of what’s in store for you. If you believe what you read you will be treated to:

100% mozzarella with a hint of provolone

A new sauce with spicy red pepper

A garlic-seasoned buttery crust
Well all of that sounds delicious, they have me on board. Let’s open the box up and get a look at this thing.

Oh Snap, Guess What I Saw?!

Shorty is not a ten.

Luckily when it comes to food, first impressions mean nothing, it all comes down to the taste test. Visually I was absolutely disappointed. I suggest you head over to the Domino’s website and compare the image on the front page to what you see here. After days of having the website image in my head, I felt bamboozled when I saw this unappetizing piece of crap in front of me. It even appeared to be smaller than I hoped it would be. But let’s give it a taste.

The Crust

Crust seasoning you can see.

I had a feeling that the crust would be a homerun because the breadbowls from their Pasta Breadbowls are delicious. Same thing with this new pizza crust. Think of a seasoned breadstick used as a pizza crust. You can clearly see the garlic/parm seasoning in the picture and you’ll also be pleased to know that it’s hit with butter. I thought I was imaging this at first but each slice honestly gets better as you work your way towards the crust.

‘Got Any Cheeeeeese?’

Close-up look at the pie.

Before trying out the new recipe I talked to some people on what they thought about the old recipe. Pretty much everyone, myself included, agreed that the cheese was never an issue with old Domino’s pizza. It wasn’t spectacular but they had more to worry about than just the cheese.
Not much has changed with the new recipe. I expected a more pronounced flavor from the provolone blend but it really doesn’t stand out.

The Sauce

A single slice.

Can food be described as gimmicky? Because that’s the first word that came to mind when I got a lick of the new sauce. As promised, they have spiced the sauce up a bit. But the result is something that tastes exactly like a sauce you’d get in a package of frozen mozzarella sticks, or sauce you would receive with an order of breadsticks to dip in. It’s tasty, but I just don’t know if a pizza is the right venue for it. Save it for the breadsticks.

Blindsided By The Bottom

Don't look down!

I expected to only have three focuses: the outer crust, the cheese and the sauce. But while eating the pizza I was completely blindsided by the bottom of the pizza. Look at the picture I took. At the very least you expect to see cornmeal on the bottom. This pizza has nothing covering the bottom at all. I’m not using hyperbole when I say that it feels like cardboard when your tongue touches the bottom of a slice. The underside of this pizza was an unexpected bumout.

A Surprise

Buttery goodness is visible.

Domino’s played up the garlic-butter crust, and I’m already fond of their Pasta Breadbowls which are drenched in butter. So I should have been prepared for what I was going to see, but I was still surprised when I saw the butter sauce soaked into the crust with my eyes. You know it’s seriously buttery when you can see the butter on a cross-section of the pizza. This was an unexpected treat which helps let me look past the cardboard base this pie is built on.

Final Review

If you’re having Domino’s, the crust is worth the price of admission.

The new cheese and sauce are closer to lateral moves, not upgrades.

Overall better than the OG recipe.

Although better, still not as good as your favorite hometown pizza shop.

If you’ve played Modern Warfare 2 online you’ve probably been in a lobby with Level 67-70 players, and have been absolutely owned by the double shotguns they run around with. These are the Akimbo Model 1887′s and you’ve probably heard that they were patched to be less effective. If you follow the scene you may have even heard that there is a work-around to use the Akimbo Models as they were pre-patch.

In-game last night I was surprised by the number of people who were confused about this subject so I am going to set the record straight once and for all.

What You Need To Know
1. The Akimbo Model 1887′s were patched to be less effective.
2. The Model 1887′s can still be used exactly like they were pre-patch.

So What’s The Work-Around?
The work-around is simple. Use Bling Pro in your first perk slot and apply Akimbo and FMJ. Your Model 1887′s now have the same range as they were pre-patch. ModernWarFAIL2 Blog and nearly every gaming forum have posted this work-around.

Huh? How Does FMJ Affect Range?
Quite simply, FMJ doesn’t affect range. It gives greater bullet penetration and nothing else. Although ModernWarFAIL2 gave the work-around, they failed themselves to explain WHY this works.
The work-around has nothing to do with FMJ.

Most people imagine that the weapons are programmed like this, where each gun has a base entry and then the damage numbers would change depending on the attachment:
(I just made these damage numbers up for the sake of a visual)

<col width="74"></col>
<col width="64"></col>

Ranger

40-30

M1014

50-40

Model 1887

60-50

In reality it looks more like this inside of the game, every combination has its own entry with its own values:
(One again, made up numbers)

<col width="188"></col>
<col width="71"></col>

Model 1887

40-30

Model 1887/Akimbo

80-60

Model 1887/Bling/Akimbo/FMJ

80-60

So when the Infinity Ward programmers were told to lower the values of the Akimbo Model 1887′s, they literally altered those values, but ONLY those values. They completely overlooked that Model 1887 + Bling + Akimbo has its own values. This was a programming oversight, something I thought ModernWarFAIL2 blog would have been salivating at the prospect of roasting.

FMJ has nothing to do with range, and has nothing to do with this work-around. Bling is the reason why this works. It just happens that shotguns have only two possible attachments, Akimbo and FMJ. FMJ is being used so people jumped to the conclusion that it was the reason the work-around works. But now you know that isn’t the case.

My Advice Regarding The Models
I say get to Level 67 as fast as you can and have fun with the pre-nerfed Akimbo Models while you still have the chance. I’ll be shocked if they’re not patched properly in the next update. If you see someone named barrow running around with them you know who it is. Bling Bling. (That’s a B.G. reference, look it up.)
